LEAGUE MEET   SECOND ENTRY STANDARDS   2011

     Every school is entitled to at least one entry into each individual event, and one entry into each relay.  However, if a school has more than one individual who has met or exceeded the standards listed below, all individuals who have achieved the standard are permitted to be entered into that event.  Only one relay team per school is permitted in each relay event regardless of the performance of “B” relays from that school.
     The standards listed below were derived by taking the 10th best entry from all the first entries from each school for the past seven years.  The best and the worst entries were eliminated, and the remaining five entries were averaged.
     Because Automatic Timing is becoming more widely used, especially for seeding purposes, it has become prudent to show how AT compares to Hand Timing.  The following quote comes from the “Bible” of track and field, the “Little Golden Book” from Track and Field News.  “Especially in short races, times taken by hand generally are 0.1-0.2 shorter (faster) than AT.  Although good hand timing should produce a time identical to the AT, this is difficult.  The rule of thumb used for conversions of all races less than one full lap is to add 0.24 to the HT.  For races of one lap, the accepted standard is to add 0.14 to the HT.”
     Please remember that the entry form that you send in is your OFFICIAL entry.  If an athlete qualifies for 5 or more events, he/she cannot be entered in more than four events, including relays.   Do not enter an athlete in an event with the intent of withdrawing that athlete from that event the day of the league meet.  Do not enter an athlete in four individual events and expect him/her to participate in a relay as well.  If an athlete is entered in an event he/she is expected to compete in that event, except in case of illness or injury.
